In the second half of 1800, the building was purchased by Captain Napoleone Scarpa, grandfather of the current owner. After a major renovation completed in 1889 ,he made it home for his large family. Captain Scarpa was one of the last owners of the Venetian Marine sailing boats until motor boats predominated. Still young, he devoted himself to commercial activities, cultivating business relationships with customers and suppliers from the Mediterranean and Eastern Adriatic ports. For his commercial capacity and great loyalty, he became part of the Venetian bourgeoisie.
